CUNARD marked its 175th Anniversary at Liverpool

Image
The three QUEENS forming the fleet of the CUNARD LINE saluted the city of Liverpool with a spectacular river display marking the 175th Anniversary of the legendary shipping company, over a million people, mainly from the North West of the UK lined the river Mersey to witness something unprecedented in Liverpool, a momentous event that will stay in the memory of all of those that assisted to this terrific page of Maritime History. The three ships performed choreographed manoeuvres that included 180 degree turns, the Red Arrows performed a fly-past, wonderful fireworks, music, a culmination of Maritime Exhibitions and events, my congratulations to the organisers of this spectacular event, Liverpool remains the spiritual home port of the CUNARD LINE, the celebrations will continue on the 4th of July when flagship "QM2" returns to the Mersey to re-create the maiden voyage of the BRITANNIA in 1840

ORIANA off Calshot

Image
ORIANA the year that she turned 20 years old, unfortunately the year that she doesn't look that beautiful anymore because of her new livery, still a delightful ship, seen approaching my view point from a distance it seems that her bow has lost a big portion with that union flag and the blue on the funnel on a dark day looks just lifeless with a hard to see pointless logo, ORIANA is seen here departing Southampton for another cruise, photographed from Calshot beach, 27.5.2015
